Elena Sokolova is a Christian activist from Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast. She was an active parishioner of the Church of Free Evangelical Christians in Gatchina (not part of the Russian United Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith, Pentecostals) but has stopped attending the church because of its support of the war.
Since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, she has been authoring the Telegram channel, Scattered from Persecution. Its purpose is to maintain communication between Christians from Ukraine and Russia during the war. She also made anti-war statements on social networks.
At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Sokolova’s profile on the VK social network (@id694689962) was blocked in the Russian Federation.
Sokolova received a summons from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Gatchina District of the Leningrad Oblast, calling on her to appear before the local police officer on 25 May 2023.
