DANIEL-LANDSEY KEITA, singer, Belarusian Orthodox Church (Minsk, Belarus)
Daniel-Landsey Keita is a musician and Orthodox Christian who sings in church choirs. Daniel-Landsey Keita is a laureate of the 1st degree of the Republican competition of young vocalists named after Chaliapin. In 2018, he graduated from the Republican Music College with a degree in choral conducting and entered the Belarusian State Academy of Music.
Since 2019, he has been a singer in the Vsekhsvyatsky choir of the All Saints parish in Minsk, which is headed by the well-known pro-government priest, Archpriest Fyodor Povny. Until 2019, he was a singer in the Alexander Nevsky Church in Minsk.
He posted comments in Telegram chats criticizing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Keita was detained in Hrodna in June 2024. This became known from a video published on a pro-government Telegram channel. In the video, Keita said that he participated in protests in 2020 and left negative comments about the government and police officers. He also said that he had a negative attitude towards the Russian military fighting in Ukraine.
Information has appeared on the schedule of the Minsk District Court of Minsk that the consideration of the criminal case under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code against the believer will begin on 22 January 2025. The case will be heard by Judge Tatiana Pirozhnikava.
